Richard Wen is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto. He recently earned his doctorate in civil engineering at Toronto Metropolitan University, and brings his expertise in Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) and machine learning to public health for improving lives at scale - starting with the prevention of road traffic victims at the systems level. Richard also works as a Lead Data Scientist at the Centre for Global Health Research at St. Michael's Hospital, developing software and discovering data-informed insights to help physicians and governments reduce premature mortality, including road traffic deaths, worldwide.
