In this talk, Dr. Mary-Louise Greer (general paediatric radiologist on staff at Toronto's Hospital for Sick Children) and Dr. Moti Freiman (assistant professor and the director of the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology's Computational MRI Lab) discussed the potential of Artificial Intelligence-based quantitative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) analysis to identify clinically relevant microstructural changes with clinical applications in pediatric Crohn’s disease and potentially trigeminal neuralgia. The co-presenters provided an overview of the inaugural T-CAIREM Technion Collaboration Catalyst Workshop held in Ein Gedi, Israel in May 2023 aimed at promoting clinical AI research collaboration between these two institutions.

Kristina Kupferschmidt is a PhD student at the University of Guelph and the Vector Institute for Artificial Intelligence who explores using training data composition to provide insight on model workings and limitations. Min Li Chen is working towards a Master of Science in Medical Biophysics at the University of Toronto. Her research examines a prototype AI workflow that empowers microscopists to design and share tissue classifiers without the need for sophisticated coding or complex collaborations.

Rami Saab from the University of Toronto's Temerty Faculty of Medicine discussed his research using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to detect swallowing abnormalities in post-stroke patients. Ruiyan Ni, a PhD Candidate with the UofT's medical biophysics department, explained her research using Deep Learning to automatically segment targets and organs at risk in cervical high-dose rate brachytherapy.

MSc student in the University of Manitoba's Department of Computer Science, presented on "Deep learning-based joint detection and Sharp-van-der-Heijde score prediction in Rheumatoid Arthritis hand radiographs." Dr. Mohammad Khan from the UofT's Department of Family and Community Medicine presented on "Machine Learning Quantification of Fluid Volume in Eyes with Retinal Vein Occlusion Undergoing Treatment with Aflibercept: The REVOLT study."
