Victoria McCredie
MBChB, PhD
Dr. Victoria McCredie is an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto and a Clinician Scientist at the University Health Network. The goal of Victoria’s research is to improve bedside practices and outcomes in critically ill patients with acute brain injury. In the ICU, we continuously make data-driven critical decisions using the technologies available to us. However, the effect of these technologies on decision-making is not well understood. A major focus of Victoria’s current work is to understand how neurophysiologic monitoring technologies can improve the time to detection of neurological worsening and subsequently inform and help individualize management at the bedside. The biggest challenge is how to capture highly granular data from multiple neuromonitoring devices and visualize the integrated data to provide actionable information at the bedside to improve clinical management. Victoria is working with the University of Waterloo’s System Design Engineering Department to explore whether novel data visualization tools can solve this problem in neurocritical care.
