Muhammad Raisul Alam is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow cross-appointed with the Department of Computer Science and Department of Occupational Science & Occupational Therapy at the University of Toronto. He is also affiliated with Toronto Rehabilitation Institute and Vector Institute for AI. Raisul's research interest broadly covers smart home - an application of ubiquitous computing. He has been developing machine learning and optimization algorithms to create context-aware, adaptive, and personalized smart home systems for the past 12 years. His research goal is to build the next generation of smart homes that can provide in-home healthcare support, increase home energy efficiency, and improve quality of life in the home environment. He received his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carleton University.
