Dr. Lueder A. Kahrs is Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematical and Computational Sciences at UTM. His primary expertise lies in microscopic and endoscopic computer vision, e.g. for control of surgical robots or image guidance including application of AI for diagnosis and therapy. Before moving to Toronto, he was principal investigator on several projects funded by the German Research Foundation (stereo vision endoscope for laryngeal adductor reflex, endoscopic registration method of the mastoid cell structure for minimal invasive cochlear implantation, intracochlear imaging) as well as industry (3D vision for surgical microscopy). His NSERC Discovery Grant “Image analysis of topology changes for laser-based soft material processing” covers computer vision aspects of tissue tracking, motion compensation and cutting.
