I trained as a Family Physician and have over 30 years of experience in designing and implementing Electronic Medical Records and supporting clinicians in their effective use. Currently, I am focused on architecting a scalable technology system for cost-effective diabetes prevention, addressing a key challenge in healthcare.
Previously, I led the architecture and evaluation of two clinical decision support tools through randomized controlled trials in collaboration with McMaster University’s COMPETE studies. I also designed and implemented Canada's Primary Care Chronic Disease Surveillance Network (CPCSSN) which collects de-identified data of 2 million patients from 1500 primary care physician practices.
My publications emphasize designing systems that enhance provider productivity—achieving high-quality work with reduced cognitive effort—and improve patient outcomes through empowerment, equity, and better access. I am dedicated to implementing, testing, and validating these systems, with a particular focus on their scalability and sustainability.
