Dr. Khalvati is Endowed Chair in Medical Imaging and Artificial Intelligence at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) and University of Toronto (UofT). He is also AI Associate Scientist at SickKids and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medical Imaging with cross-appointments to Institute of Medical Science and the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at UofT. He is also a Faculty Affiliate at Vector Institute.

Working as a multidisciplinary scientist at UofT and its research hospitals for last six years, he has led the design and development of AI-driven diagnostic and prognostic solutions for different cancer sites (e.g., liver, prostate, pancreas, brain) with the goal of delivering precision medicine to patients. Dr. Khalvati has published over 70 peer-reviewed publications as journal papers, patents, book chapter, and conference full papers, and he has received $1.4M in peer-reviewed research grants as PI and Co-I. 

Dr. Khalvati's research lab (Intelligent Medical Image Computing Systems – IMICS Lab) is located at SickKids Research Institute and he currently supervises several graduate and undergraduate students, and Research Assistants all of whom conduct research on different aspects of AI in Medical Imaging for Precision Medicine.
