After completing my PhD on EEG and unsupervised learning at the University of California San Diego, I started doing clinical research on epilepsy with the goal of developing software to improve the efficacy and efficiency of epilepsy surgery. This entails developing classifiers and data visualizations to help physicians interpret the vast quantities of EEG and imaging data acquired from epilepsy surgery candidates. My primary expertise is time series analysis, but I have learned basic imaging analysis as well and have worked closely with physicians in hospital settings. In 2017, I won an Ontario Brain Institute entrepreneur award to make commercial epilepsy software. I now develop such software as an employee of the Persyst Development Corporation and continue to collaborate with neurosurgeon Taufik Valiante’s Neuron-to-Brain Lab at the Krembil Research Institute.
