T-CAIREM seeks a Trainee Representative for our Advisory Committee

T-CAIREM is seeking a talented University of Toronto trainee who'd like to represent other trainees, students and emerging researchers on our Advisory Committee. The T-CAIREM Advisory Committee will provide insights on the planned direction, mission, goals and activities of T-CAIREM and advise on strategic partnerships, performance and future directions. 

This is a volunteer position.

Eligibility Criteria:
• Applicants must be a current University of Toronto student/trainee (undergrad, grad or resident)
• Applicants can be at any training level and do not need to be in medicine

• Applicants must be available to virtually attend the first Advisory Committee meeting on September 2, 2021 (Thursday), 1-2:30 pm. 

DEADLINE: APPLICATIONS CLOSE ON AUGUST 9, 2021 (Monday).

Advisory Committee Membership:
• The Advisory Committee is composed of up to ten members who represent a wide range of expertise from relevant disciplines.
• Members are expected to serve two-year terms and membership will be reviewed every two years by the Dean and the T-CAIREM Director. The committee will be chaired by the T-CAIREM Director and meet semi-annually or at the discretion of the T-CAIREM Director.
• If an Advisory Committee member resigns from the Advisory Committee, the remaining members of the Advisory will invite a replacement that has the background/affiliation, skills and expertise of the previous member(s).

Meetings:
• The Advisory Committee will meet semi-annually or at the discretion of the Chair. 
• Committee members will be provided with a minimum of 30 working days notice of a meeting unless an emergent need to meet arises.
• The meeting agenda will be prepared by the T-CAIREM Centre Administrator and will be provided to Committee members no less than three working days prior to the meeting. 
• The Chair, prior to the next meeting will review, and if satisfactory, provisionally approve minutes.

Quorum:
• Majority of voting members of the Committee constitutes a quorum.

Accountability Structure:
• Advisory Committee will liaise with the Executive Committee through the T-CAIREM Director.

Decision Making:
• The Advisory Committee strives to achieve consensus on all major recommendations ultimately determined by a majority member.
• All recommendations are subject to ratification by the Executive Committee.

Confidentiality:
Advisory Committee members shall respect the confidentiality of matters discussed at meetings pertaining to T-CAIREM.

Conflict of Interest:
Advisory Committee members shall declare any conflicts of interest at the beginning of each meeting and will refrain from participation in the discussion or will recuse themselves from the discussion or leave the meeting if necessary.

Evaluation Criteria:
• Demonstrated track record in Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning in medicine (some academic/side project/extracurricular activities)
• Leadership experience (especially on similar board-like structures)
• Education experience (trainees on the committee will likely be asked for their input on education at all career stages, including extracurricular/research experiences).
