We're delighted to welcome Sedric Pankras to T-CAIREM. As our Business Development Officer, he'll drive the development of industry partnerships for T-CAIREM. We recently caught up with him to learn more about his plans.
What inspired you to join T-CAIREM?
I believe AI will play a crucial role in shaping the future of healthcare by providing practical solutions to reduce the cost of care, enhance efficiency, and improve patient outcomes. As an innovation-driven business development professional with a strong interest in healthcare, I'm excited to support T-CAIREM’s vision and contribute to this important initiative.
You have such an interesting background! What were the most important lessons you learned while doing your PhD and MBA?
During my PhD, I gained a deep appreciation for analytical thinking, persistence, and the importance of learning from mistakes. My MBA, on the other hand, taught me the value of thoroughly understanding problems to create meaningful market solutions and made me more aware of my own biases. Together, these experiences have equipped me to address complex challenges and develop practical solutions.
What was the most important lesson you learned from your past work experiences that you’d like to apply to your new role?
Prior to joining T-CAIREM, I served as a Business Development Professional at The Hospital for Sick Children's Industry Partnerships and Commercialization Office, as well as at the University Health Network's Technology Development and Commercialization unit. I also worked as a Strategy Consultant at First Principles Advisory Group, where I developed business cases for life science technologies. These experiences equipped me to evaluate business opportunities, identify partnerships, and complete partnership deals to benefit all parties involved. I believe these experiences will also be highly beneficial to my success in my current role at T-CAIREM.
What are some of the things you’re hoping to accomplish in your new role at T-CAIREM?
To achieve T-CAIREM’s vision of "Transforming Healthcare through AI," it is crucial to ensure that our operations are financially sustainable in the long run. By collaborating with the talented T-CAIREM leadership and team, I aim to drive partnership development to support T-CAIREM's financial sustainability agenda.
