Prem Nichani
MSc MD(C)
Prem is an Ophthalmology resident in the Department of Ophthalmology & Vision Sciences, Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto (UofT). His previous education history includes a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from UofT, an MSc in Health Policy, Management and Evaluation from the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation at UofT, and an HBSc in Health Sciences from Wilfrid Laurier University. Prem has a strong aptitude for clinical research and the field of ophthalmology and its intersection with health policy and artificial intelligence. He aspires to gain the necessary experience to be a proficient clinician-researcher who can enact policy changes to improve the healthcare experience for his future patients. Current research interests include using artificial intelligence to improve clinical decision-making when treating patients via predictive neural networks for earlier identification of disease and to optimize management in common and complex patient presentations. He looks forward to connecting with anyone who might have similar interests or simply just to network. Outside of academia, Prem enjoys going on long hikes with his family, DJing (DJ Mocha Love & Six Side Entertainment), music production, website design, and reading legal thrillers.
