Dr. Carole Lunny is a methodologist in evidence synthesis. She finished two postdocs; one with the University of British Columbia (UBC) and the second at the University of Toronto. Dr Lunny is PhD trained as a Clinical Epidemiologist and Methodologist with Cochrane Australia, Monash University. Working with these organisations has refined her skills in knowledge translation, machine learning, network meta-analysis (NMA), development of critical appraisal tools, and grant writing.

Dr. Lunny’s current work focuses on the development of a risk of bias tool for NMAs, and the development of an AI for quality and bias assessment of systematic reviews (ROBIS and AMSTAR 2) called WISEST. However, she is most widely known internationally for her seminal research into ‘overviews of systematic reviews’ (i.e. umbrella reviews, meta-reviews). Her full research works can be accessed at: <https://scholar.google.com/citations?hl=en&user=iJKQnaYAAAAJ&view_op=list_works&sortby=pubdate>

Dr Lunny also started a “Methods Speaker Series” <https://www.ti.ubc.ca/2023/01/10/methods-speaker-series-2023/ in March 2019>, with the aim to fill a gap in knowledge translation around methods and statistics in evidence synthesis. To date, 33 talks have been given which are free and attended by knowledge users throughout Canada and globally.
