James Chow completed his medical physics residency training at the London Regional Cancer Centre, London.  He is a Medical Physicist in the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.  Besides being a Medical Physicist with clinical duties, James is an Associate Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at University of Toronto, and an Affiliated Scientist of the TECHNA Institute for the Advancement of Technology for Health, University Health Network.

As a Medical Physicist interested in radiation dosimetry and treatment planning, James uses Monte Carlo method to develop targeted and accurate dose delivery process in radiation treatment. He studied DNA damage of cancer cells in nanoparticle-enhanced radiotherapy. Moreover, his research uses machine learning to predict dose-volume variables in radiation treatment plan QA, and to generate radiation beam segments for a photon fluence map used in intensity modulated radiotherapy. He is also interested in creating AI-assisted chatbot used in knowledge transfer for patient care and education.
